What to know before you build here
Tanglewood, Arlington Heights and Fairmount hold older homes and mature trees near the center of town. The Trinity Trails run along the river through the west side, and Walsh and Heritage are newer master-planned communities at the edges of the city.
Permits and HOA
City of Fort Worth Development Services issues residential permits for patio covers and pergolas. Newer master-planned communities have an HOA whose approval usually comes before the city permit, and historic districts carry their own review.
The ground under the posts
Expansive clay in much of the city, with limestone close to the surface in places. Posts go on engineered piers below the active zone, and rock in a pier hole means drilling. That is a real cost and it gets priced then.
