What to know before you cover the patio
Tanglewood, Arlington Heights and Fairmount hold older homes and mature trees near the center of town. The Trinity Trails run along the river through the west side, and Walsh and Heritage are newer master-planned communities at the edges of the city.
Permits and HOA
City of Fort Worth Development Services issues residential permits for patio covers and pergolas. Newer master-planned communities have an HOA whose approval usually comes before the city permit, and historic districts carry their own review.
The ground under the posts
Expansive clay in much of the city, with limestone close to the surface in places. Posts go on engineered piers below the active zone, and rock in a pier hole means drilling. That is a real cost and it gets priced then.

A slab edge isn't a footing. Every post lands on an engineered pier or a spot the engineer signs off on.

Flashed at the fascia or on a ledger, pitched to match. If the tie-in leaks, nothing else matters.

Gutters and downspouts carry the new roof's water away from the slab, not onto the foundation.

Do I need a permit for a patio cover in Fort Worth?

How much is a patio cover in Fort Worth?
$119 per SF with a $20,000 minimum on covers up to 300 SF, plus $2,200 for design and permit. Bigger covers come in lower per SF because the engineering and setup spread over more area. We price those at the visit.
Can the cover tie into my roof?
Usually. We tie in at the fascia or run a ledger, flash it, and match the pitch so water sheds off both roofs. If your roofline is too low for a clean tie-in, we build it freestanding a few inches off the house.
